Ready to hit the central Ohio trails to see some spectacular cascades? Here are our favorite hiking trails in central Ohio with waterfalls.
Hayden Falls is a great payoff for such a short hike. In fact, the most difficult part of the entire hike will be the long staircase you’ll have to go down to get to the falls/climb back up to return to the trailhead. (Watch out for slippery or ice steps).
Once you descend the stairs, the rest of the trail is a short boardwalk to the base of the 35 foot falls. You’ll walk through a beautiful gorge cute by the water flowing from the falls into the Scioto River.
The address for Hayden Falls 4326 Hayden Run Rd. Dublin, OH 43017. There is a small parking lot off Hayden Run Road. Even though this park is in Dublin, it is operated by the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.
While not as well known as Hayden Falls, Indian Run Falls is just as spectacular. Indian Run Falls is located in Dublin, along 161 between the outerbelt and downtown Dublin. Type 700 Shawan Falls Dr, Dublin, OH 43017 into your favorite directions app to find the exact location.
While the bottom of the falls are not accessible by trail, you can still enjoy the sound and stand at water’s edge by taking the stairs next to the bridge. There are also multiple spots along the hike with observation platforms for viewing this magnificent waterfall.
There’s definitely more to explore here than Hayden Falls. This park also has a log cabin structure, some lovely flower fields and even picnic facilities. The nature trail wanders through some beautiful wooded areas.
